The Chamber of Commerce and Community Memorial Hospital will be sponsoring "Walk for a Cure 2010".  This event will be held September 18, 2010 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Registration begins at 8:30 am the day of the event and costs $20.00 with a t-shirt or $10.00 without a t-shirt.  All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society/Patient Services.

 

Event Route:  Begins at Bike Trail / south water tower to Rte 4 junction and back

Information will be available regarding breast health.  The hospital will provide beverages for participants. All participants are encouraged to wear pink and show their support.  First - Third place trophies will be awarded by time.

 

Every other year, the Staunton Chamber sponsors the Kelly Miller Circus during the fall.  Tickets are sold in advance at area chamber businesses, with clowns visiting the school the week before the circus to increase awareness of the event.

 

 

A visit with Santa for local area children is held annually on the first Saturday in December at the Zion Lutheran School.  This project coincides with the Lutheran School Christmas Store which offer inexpensive items for kids and adults to purchase while attending Snack with Santa.  Doors open at 9:00 a.m. with visits with Santa from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Kids receive a cookie and drink, plus get to plan on the indoor inflated giant slide.  Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras.  In addition, a trolley which shuttles visits free of charge to and from downtown merchants is available during these same hours.
